Broadcasting information in multiple languages during disasters and other emergencies matters a great deal on the radio, but a bilingual personality isn't always available. This Virtual Talking Head (VTH) is a cloud service that translates a Japanese script into multiple foreign languages and generates spoken audio alongside the translated text.
Beyond translating the script, we designed it so that fine-grained settings — such as the voice used for narration and playback speed — can be operated through an easy-to-understand UI.
Rather than simply producing the UI screens, we created design guidelines for rolling this out, building an environment where those guidelines could be smoothly reflected in implementation.
The service site was built using STUDIO. We built the structure around the key messaging we wanted to convey, handling everything from design through to reflecting the final copy.
